It's a beautiful warm sunny day and I'm in the mood to freshen them up. It is a major procedure in this house as it is clearly not their favourite thing although they do co-operate mostly especially if there is a treat on standby. Coco is more likely to go first as Chloe is quicker to disappear. She is pretty good at hide and seek! Funnily enough once the bath is over and they are towelled dried, they go crazy running around the house scratching their backs on the carpet and getting frisky! Needless to say, I bath them before my shower as I always end up sodden and soapy too!

Moving house

We told the doggies we were moving but they just got confused of course! All the activity was very unsettling and then suddenly we were in a new place with new smells and everything was higgeldy piggledy and a little bit scary. They followed us around for days from room to room as we unpacked and then gradually they seemed to realise that here we are again - Home! They don’t know or care that I have had a bad day, they just love me anyway. They don’t know I am tired and grumpy, they just love me anyway. When I sat down with my cup of tea and put my feet up, they jumped up beside me on the lounge and snuggled up really tight. They almost sighed as they snuggled up like they were in complete heaven! They know what to do to make someone feel loved because it comes naturally to them. That is what they have to give. We have so much to learn from our animals.

My darling little dogs

I have always had animals in my life. They really are my "fur children!" The four significant human ones have all flown the coop but I have to say that the love and loyalty from my two mini smooth hair dachshunds is unrivalled in this household. They know no other behaviour (with us) other than to love and adore us. They can be noisy and appearing ferocious at times with strangers at the door but there is no malice behind that, it is just love and protection for us. We are the centre of their world and they ours. How would the world be if everyone was honoured in this way? I wish the privilege was everyones and then maybe there would be less mental illness and loneliness.
